It is important to engage in the prevention of actions that violate the autonomy of the body and where women are considered objects of their partners or anyone else. This is what the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, said at the conference "Only Yes, Means Yes", in response to SDG 5, organized by the Sustainable Development Council of the Assembly of Kosovo.
The conference, which aimed to address the harmonization of local legislation with the Istanbul Convention in relation to sexual violence, started with the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, who mentioned some of the measures taken against violence, saying that the Government for the first time has given priority to addressing domestic violence and gender-based violence, unlike in the past when it was considered something private. She also mentioned the changes in the criminal code, saying that people who cause violence are prohibited from being employed in public institutions.
Mija Jovornik from the Academy for Democratic Development showed the focus of their program, saying that everyone should come together as women across the region, Europe and around the world, are being raped and harassed.
Sonja Lokar, expert on gender issues, said that success is achieved only in areas where all political parties, NGOs, government and Parliament unite.
