A scientific conference “Kosovo during the 19th century: a look at social dynamics” was held at the Albanological Institute. Researchers from the country and the region said that this century was a stormy period in the history of Kosovo.

The acting director of the Albanological Institute, Naim Berisha, said that Ottoman reforms still have an impact today.

“The 19th century represents a key point in the political and social development of social areas. The confrontation with Ottoman reforms, changes in the social structure and national resistance movements created new dynamics, the impacts of which are still felt today. In this context, it is the responsibility of researchers to shed light on these developments through scientific analysis. This conference is an important intellectual platform to share new findings, discuss different approaches, and expand understanding of the history of Kosovo”, he said.

The Ambassador of Turkey to Kosovo, Sabri Tunç Angili, said that in order to understand the history of Albanians, the Ottoman archives must be studied.
