The president of the Ferizaj club, Lulzim Abazi, has reacted strongly regarding the team’s current position in the Kosovo Superleague, stressing that his side does not deserve its current place and raising serious concerns about refereeing in recent matches.
Speaking to KosovaPress, he stated that Ferizaj, despite its results, has shown quality and has achieved victories against the strongest teams in the league, implying that the current standings do not reflect what is happening on the pitch.
“Ferizaj has always played only football, while in other teams only football has not been played; that is why we are where we are, and I think the Kosovo Superleague would be incomplete if we were to be relegated, and it is already being seen that we are dropping into the First League of Kosovo. It would be very incomplete because Ferizaj has a very good team and a strong group of players, and I believe that in the Kosovo Superleague all teams have a very small difference in quality within their squads, from Prishtina e Re, which is last, to the leader Drita. This is also shown by the fact that we are now last; we have played matches and have won even against Ballkani, Gjilani, and we have also beaten Drita,” Abazi said.
The club president also raised strong allegations regarding refereeing, saying that his team has been repeatedly harmed throughout the season, especially in matches against lower-ranked sides.
Furthermore, Abazi spoke about the financial situation of the club, saying that interest from the local community and businesses in financially supporting the club is low, forcing the management to constantly seek sponsorships. He emphasized that even after many efforts and repeated appeals, support often comes with difficulty and in limited form, while criticism for lack of results is frequent.
Ferizaj is currently in the lower part of the table, while the battle for survival in the Kosovo Superleague remains open until the final rounds.
