Kosovo under storm alert

Kosovo under storm alert

The European Storm Forecast Experiment (ESTOFEX) has placed Kosovo in the highest risk area (Level 3). It has forecast a powerful outbreak of extreme weather with waves of rainfall during Tuesday, extending into the early hours of Wednesday.

According to meteorologists, there is a possibility that powerful storms forming over the Adriatic Sea will move toward the Balkans and maintain their intensity over the territory of Kosovo.

In addition to Kosovo, ESTOFEX has included Montenegro, southern Bosnia, southern Croatia and parts of Italy in its Level 3 warning area.

This is mainly due to the risk of very large hail, damaging winds and, to a lesser extent, tornadoes.

According to the published analysis, meteorologists warn that the atmospheric situation could result in one of the most powerful episodes of extreme weather in the region this summer.

Very favorable conditions for the development of storms are forecast for Kosovo and the region, which could bring very large hail, potentially destructive winds and, in isolated cases, tornadoes.

However, a Level 3 risk does not mean that every part of Kosovo will be affected by severe weather phenomena, but rather that atmospheric conditions are highly favorable for storms that develop to become exceptionally powerful.

Citizens are advised to follow warnings from official meteorological institutions and avoid staying outdoors during severe storms.
