Following the expiration of the deadline set for the Faculty of Technical Sciences in North Mitrovica to vacate the premises of the University of Pristina “Hasan Pristina,” UP Rector Arben Hajrullahu has called for the return of the property and the implementation of the law.
In a statement to KosovaPress, Hajrullahu accused the institution in the north of attempting to appropriate the identity of the University of Pristina and illegally using the former Faculty of Metallurgy building, which is owned by UP.
“The so-called University of Pristina based in Mitrovica, which I hope will one day, in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, become the University of North Mitrovica, is attempting, among other things, to steal the identity of the University of Pristina. They have occupied the former Faculty of Metallurgy, which is the property of the University of Pristina,” Hajrullahu said.
The rector stressed that anyone using university property without a legal basis will face legal proceedings.
Hajrullahu publicly called on all illegal users to vacate UP properties.
KosovaPress also requested a comment from the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in North Mitrovica, but had not received a response by the time this report was published. According to a faculty announcement, the institution is on collective leave until August 21.
The University of Pristina said that between February 9 and March 10, 2026, it sent the Faculty of Technical Sciences an official request to vacate the building within a 30-day deadline. The request stated that the faculty should voluntarily vacate the property and hand it over to its legal owner—the University of Pristina—or initiate proceedings to regulate the legal relationship concerning the use of the building, for which UP has expressed its willingness to cooperate.
