The Assembly today in its 38th attempt to constitute the Parliament

The thirty-eighth continuation of the session for the constitution of the ninth legislature will be held today starting at 11:00 AM, as reported by KosovaPress.

The thirty-seven previous continuations have turned into a series of consecutive failures due to a lack of votes from Vetëvendosje Movement, Guxo, and Alternativa for electing the new Speaker of the Assembly.

Albulena Haxhiu has failed to secure enough votes from MPs in six direct attempts, and Vetëvendosje, Guxo, and Alternativa are now calling for a commission to oversee a secret ballot process.

This will be the first resumed session since the Constitutional Court, through a ruling on Thursday, June 26, decided that the Assembly must be constituted within thirty days.

The Constitutional Court’s ruling comes after the Parliamentary Group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo submitted a request for interpretation regarding the secret voting procedure being proposed by Vetëvendosje, Guxo, and Alternativa for the election of Albulena Haxhiu as the new Speaker of the Assembly.
