The constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo, scheduled to be held today (Friday), was interrupted due to the Constitutional Court’s ruling and in anticipation of tomorrow’s meeting between the leaders of parliamentary parties aimed at resolving the deadlock in the Assembly.
The session chair, Avni Dehari, said he hopes that a consensus will be reached at tomorrow’s meeting, which was called by the leader of LVV, Albin Kurti, and includes representatives of parliamentary parties for the constitution of the ninth legislature.
He stated that the next session will be held on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
“Following the ruling of the Constitutional Court delivered yesterday, today we gathered with representatives of political entities for a preliminary consultation. Everyone was of the opinion that today’s session should be interrupted pending tomorrow’s meeting called by the largest political party. The session will then continue on June 29 at 11:00 a.m.,” he said.
The Assembly of Kosovo has failed to constitute the ninth legislature despite 37 attempts. On Thursday, the Constitutional Court issued a ruling obligating the Assembly to constitute itself within 30 days.
