Former mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, has reacted following the celebrations of political parties over the election results, calling for greater solidarity with candidates who did not achieve victory.

In a social media post, Ahmeti said he would have liked to see political party leaders celebrating also with those candidates who didn’t win but gave their maximum effort for their parties.

“Last night, I would have liked to see Albin Kurti together with Hajrullah Çeku, Taulant Kelmendi, and Ardian Gola, not only celebrating with Faton Peci. Last night, I would have liked to see Memli Krasniqi together with Arian Tahiri, not only celebrating with Shaqir Totaj. Last night, I would have liked to see Lumir Abdixhiku together with Xhafer Gashi, not only celebrating with Përparim Rama,” Ahmeti wrote.

According to him, all these candidates gave their personal best, exposing themselves publicly to help their respective political parties.

Ahmeti added that some of them may complain about a lack of party support during their campaigns, but emphasized that “credit for victory goes hand in hand with responsibility for defeat.”
