US Embassy in Kosovo limits Facebook updates
The US Embassy in Prishtina has limited Facebook updates due to the budget crisis in the United States, reports KosovaPress.
For the first time in seven years, the US government has shut down after the leaders of the Democratic and Republican Parties failed to agree on temporary funding. As a result, thousands of employees who are paid from the state budget will be on unpaid leave until an agreement is reached between the parties.
The US Embassy's announcement states that the Facebook account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume. This is due to the lack of allocated funds, according to the Facebook announcement.
“This Facebook account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information. At this time, scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits. We will not update this account until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information,” reads the announcement.

This is the first government shutdown in seven years, since the current president took office. At that time, the government was shut down for 35 days, from late 2018 to early 2019.
