Those accused of terrorism in Banjska do not admit guilt; the special prosecutor reads the indictment
The three accused for the terrorist attack in Banjska, Blagoje Spasojevic, Vladimir Toliq and Dushan Maksimoviq, under high security measures, have been brought for the second time to the Basic Court in Prishtina. At the initial hearing, the accused Blagoje Spasojevic and Vladimir Tolic did not plead guilty. On the other hand, Dushan Maksimoviq was declared innocent regarding the charge for the terrorist attack in Banjska.
The accused, Blagoje Spasojevic, as he stated that he understood the indictment, said that for now he does not want to plead guilty.
The other accused, Vladimir Toliq, did not plead guilty either.
Meanwhile, the accused Dushan Maksimoviq pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by the Special Prosecution.
The accused made the statement only after the indictment was read by the special prosecutor, Naim Abazi.
According to the indictment, those accused of terrorist attack, Blagoje Spasojevic, Vladimir Toliq and Dushan Maksimoviq, together with Milan Radojicic, as the head of the terrorist group, carried out the terrorist attack in Banjska on September 24 of last year.
As a result of this attack, the police officer, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed and several others were injured.
Further, the indictment says that the three accused, through a well-organized plan in advance, through the use of violence with heavy weapons, attempted to separate the northern part of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
The chairman of the judging panel, Arben Hoti, informed the accused and their defense that in a period of 30 days they have the right to object to the evidence and to request the dismissal of the indictment.
The last hearing on September 25 was postponed after the defense of the accused had failed to prepare.
Whereas, in the last session, the trial panel decided to separate the case for trial against the three accused Blagoje Spasojevic, Vladimir Toliq and Dushan Maksimoviq who are in custody, while the Supreme Court has requested a legal opinion on whether the other 42 accused can be tried in absentia or not.
On September 11 of this year, the Special Prosecution of Kosovo indicted 45 accused for the terrorist attack of September 24, 2023 in Banjska of Zveçan.
