The caretaker government, in today’s meeting, has tightened sanctions against Russia and Belarus, in line with the decisions of the EU and the US.

The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, said that this decision comes as part of Kosovo’s commitment to support Ukraine and to harmonize policies with international partners.

Sveçla: “The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes for review and approval the decision to implement EU sanctions packages 15, 16, 17, and 18 against the Russian Federation.”

“To support the opposition to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, in accordance with EU and US measures and sanctions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes for review and approval the decision to implement EU sanctions packages 15, 16, 17, and 18 against the Russian Federation, as well as the respective additional measures. On December 16, 2024, the EU Council approved sanctions package 15 against the Russian Federation. This package includes economic and individual restrictive measures aimed at further limiting Russia’s ability to conduct its illegal, unprovoked, and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine,” he said.
