The Regional Police Directorate in Pejë, specifically the Police Station in Deçan, has arrested a young man suspected of attempting to kill his father with an axe.

The police reported that a case of “Attempted Murder” has been opened against him, KosovaPress reports.

“According to the police report, on February 5, 2026, at around 15:35, the police were notified by the Deçan Main Center for Family Medicine (QKMF) that a person was being treated for serious bodily injuries and had been sent for medical treatment at the Regional Hospital in Pejë. Police units immediately responded to the incident, and at the scene, a heavy object suspected of being used in the commission of the criminal offense was seized,” the statement reads.

It was further reported that the suspect had fled in an unknown direction, but following intensive investigative work by the Regional Investigation Sector of the Pejë Police Directorate and investigators from the Deçan Police Station, he was located and arrested at around 02:30, after midnight.

After being interviewed by investigators, by order of the State Prosecutor, the suspect was placed in custody for 48 hours, and the case is still under investigation.
