The ceiling and corridor sections of a supporting building belonging to the "Zahir Pajaziti" Memorial Complex in Orllan, Podujevë, which is planned to be turned into a museum, have been damaged.

According to the police report, the damage was caused over a one-month period, from May 30 to June 30 of this year.

Avni Ajeti, a fellow fighter of Zahir Pajaziti, said they are waiting for the police to clarify the case.

“We do not welcome such acts here, and I do not understand the awareness of those citizens who come to the point of damaging the memorials of heroes. We are saddened by this, but we are waiting for the police investigators and we hope they can find and identify them and that they receive the punishment they deserve,” Ajeti said.

He called on institutions to increase security and improve the maintenance of these sites.

“Of course, there should be stronger measures and better maintenance, because it can be seen that citizens visit this place. I do not know whether the responsible institutions receive funds for maintenance or not, but this place needs to be maintained better and, certainly, security needs to be at a higher level,” he added.

Citizen Nexhat Xhela, who had come to visit the memorial complex, also believes that greater security is needed. He expressed regret over the damage caused to the "Zahir Pajaziti" Memorial Complex.

“Yes, first of all, our government should have provided protection for such places. They should not be left without security. This is extremely damaging for Kosovo. For every citizen who has feelings for their homeland, it is truly painful. All citizens should help identify the person who committed this unforgivable act, and they should face justice as soon as possible,” Xhela said.

The prosecutor has also been informed about the case, while police units are continuing the investigation.
