The name of Rugova is strongly associated with modern thought with Albanian literature and modern culture, theory, and national life. This was stated at the scientific roundtable “Ibrahim Rugova, the Thinker and Leader,” organized by the Albanological Institute of Kosovo.
At this event, Kosovo’s historic former president, Ibrahim Rugova, was honored for his psychological, intellectual, and political profile.
“We are proud that we have managed to hold a scientific roundtable as a professional, collegial, and social tribute to a great figure like Ibrahim Rugova. By organizing this roundtable, we have honored ourselves and his scholarly and literary work and Ibrahim Rugova’s intellectual activity,” said Olluri.
Meanwhile, Professor Milazim Krasniqi mentioned his book Secrets Left by Rugova, for which he said he addressed Rugova’s intellectual and political profile in the most authentic way.
“Those who have read the book are aware that in this book I have praised Rugova’s psychological, intellectual, and political profile in the most authentic way possible, just as he was, not as imagined, due to the closeness I had with him since 1988. Today I will address Rugova’s activity in the Writers’ Association of Kosovo, where he began his public and political activity and from which he became a great leader... In the headquarters of the Writers’ Association of Kosovo, on February 16, 1988, Ibrahim Rugova was elected its president. The hall was damp with poor lighting, as its small windows were blocked by the police building and the Yugoslav secret service. In that complex, alongside the police, there was also the Pristina prison. I do not know if the association entered this context intentionally, but the result was that it was under surveillance and threat. The only time Ibrahim was annoyed was when we passed near the Miqës cafe, because the State Security Administration would provoke an incident,” said Krasniqi.
