Over 40 representatives from member countries of the European Youth Card Association (EYCA) have gathered in Pristina for the 41st International Conference of the organization, which is being held in Kosovo for the first time.

EYCA Director Manel Sanchez said this conference is one of the organization’s most important events and aims to strengthen the impact of the Youth Card on young people’s lives.

According to him, this is a great opportunity for Kosovo to showcase its potential.

“Our conference is an important event for our organization. We bring together all the European members of the European Youth Card – we’re talking about more than 40 members and over 9 million young people who use the Youth Card. At this conference, we will discuss our strategy, our brand, and, in general, the ways we can impact the lives of young people. We want this card to create a community of youth that can access projects related to mental health, employment, entrepreneurship, human rights, and social rights. In today’s world, not only in Europe but globally, projects like the European Youth Card are becoming even more necessary and meaningful. We believe that Kosovo is an excellent place to implement the European Youth Card. You’ve started recently, but you’re doing very well. I’m sure that for many people attending this conference, it will be their first time in your country, and this is a great opportunity for Kosovo to present itself and showcase all the amazing things that can be done here,” he said.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Bislim Bislimi, emphasized the importance of the conference and the benefits it brings for youth in Kosovo.

“Today here in Pristina, in the heart of the Balkans, we open the 41st Annual Conference of the European Youth Card Association, under the inspiring motto, ‘Shaping What Comes Next.’ The 41st Annual Conference of the European Youth Card Association is more than just an ordinary annual event — it has already become a unique platform for cooperation, exchange of experiences, and new ideas that directly impact the lives of young people across Europe. The regular session of this conference is now a call to action, for inclusion and for building a more inclusive and just Europe for all. This year’s organization of the conference in the Republic of Kosovo, following the country’s membership in this international non-governmental organization with wide-ranging activities across Europe in December 2023, is a great opportunity to consider the strong potential for cooperation between local institutions and organizations with the association and its other members toward concrete results for advancing youth policies and mutual exchanges. Thirty-eight countries across Europe are members of the association, which issue the European Youth Card. This card is intended for young people under the age of 30 and offers benefits in transportation, culture, education, social services, youth participation, and international mobility,” he said.

He further added that through this conference, cooperation is being strengthened between institutions, organizations, and stakeholders that impact the lives of young people.
