By 3:00 p.m., at the largest polling center in Gjilan, the “Thimi Mitko” school, around 3,700 citizens had voted, nearly 1,000 more than in the previous parliamentary elections, where over 2,600 citizens had voted.
At this polling center, which has 12,000 eligible voters, manager Sevdije Sadiku emphasized that the flow of voters throughout the day has remained almost constant.
“There are about 40 polling stations in our school, with 12,000 eligible voters. So far, we have not observed any irregularities. Since the morning, the flow of voters has been almost the same. In previous elections, fewer citizens exercised their right to vote, while this time there has been a continuous flow, about 1,000 more citizens than at the same time during the last elections. By 3:00 p.m., around 3,700 citizens have exercised their right to vote, whereas last time there were over 2,600 voters,” she said.Although she noted that there have been no significant irregularities during the voting process, she mentioned some cases where persons needing assistance encountered difficulties but were ultimately able to vote.
“We have not had any irregularities worth noting. In some cases, there were elderly individuals who did not have physical disabilities but were not immediately given assistance, yet they still managed to vote themselves. [Regarding slopes] we have an exterior ramp, and inside the corridor there are stairs. There was one case with a person in a wheelchair, which made it more difficult to reach the polling station. Nevertheless, with the help of others, they exercised their right to vote,” she said. Sevdije Sadiku stated that there were no problems with electricity and that they were prepared in case of any issues.“At our school, we did not have any issues with electricity. However, we have a generator sufficient for the school in case of any need. We have checked in advance that the generator is in good condition and functioning, so that in the event of a power outage, it will automatically supply electricity,” she said.
Overall, in this municipality, by 3:00 p.m., 32,307 people had voted, representing 32.3% of the 104,870 eligible voters.
