More than 130,000 fewer citizens had voted by 3:00 p.m. compared to the elections held in December last year. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), a total of 445,622 voters, or 22.74%, had cast their ballots in today’s parliamentary elections by 3:00 p.m. In comparison, 585,635 voters, or 29.29%, had voted by the same time in the December 28, 2025 elections. More than 1.9 million citizens are eligible to vote in Kosovo.

The figures were announced by CEC Chair Kreshnik Radoniqi, who added that the electoral process is proceeding calmly and without any serious obstacles that could affect its regular conduct.

“Based on preliminary data received from more than 98% of polling stations, the number of eligible voters who had voted by 3:00 p.m. is 445,622, or 22.74% of the 1,959,962 registered voters. At the same time during the elections for the Assembly of Kosovo held on December 28, 2025, 585,635 voters, or 29.29% of the 1,999,204 registered voters, had cast their ballots,” he said.

In addition, Radoniqi stressed that voting with invalid documents will not be allowed. He added that there were several cases involving members of the Serb community who attempted to vote using Serbian documents, but they were not permitted to do so.

“We have heard about this. There was also one or two cases in the north where they were not allowed. The staff did not allow them to vote,” Radoniqi stated.

Asked about reports that the ink applied to voters’ fingers could be easily removed after voting, he used himself as an example, saying the ink had not come off his finger. He added that the CEC has other mechanisms in place to prevent double voting.

“It has not come off my finger, even though I tried, to be honest. It also depends on how much ink is applied and whether someone tries to wipe it off immediately after it is applied. But I do not believe this poses a problem because there are other safeguards besides marking the finger with ink,” he said.
