Osmani says Kosovo’s election results underscore the need for political compromise among parties
Parliamentary parties should reach compromise on the leadership of the Assembly, the formation of the Government, and the presidency after the elections of June 7, said the head of the LDK electoral list, Vjosa Osmani.
In an interview for CCN, she said that the message from citizens in the elections was that “there is no place for a ‘one-man show’ type of politics.”
“I believe that the voice of the citizens is now even clearer: they want compromise between political forces. There is no place for a ‘one-man show’. Kosovo has always been a model of democracy when political forces have united for national interests. I hope this message is correctly understood by all political parties. At this moment, compromise is necessary not only for the election of the president, but also for the formation of the government and the leadership of the Assembly. Compromise should not be seen as something negative; on the contrary, it is one of the most important values in politics. Everyone should work with each other, and we are ready to offer this compromise to our country for the sake of the citizens,” she said, as reported by KosovaPress.
Osmani underlined that the LDK is ready to sit down and talk with other political parties to form new institutions, while emphasizing that they do not want cooperation with the Serbian List.
Preliminary election results have again shown Vetëvendosje as the winner of the elections with 42.9 percent or 48 seats in the Assembly. However, around 130,000 diaspora votes are still to be counted.
According to preliminary results, PDK came second with 21.14 percent or 24 MPs, LDK is third with 17.6 percent or 20 MPs, while AAK has 7.16 percent or eight MPs.
