About these and the possibility of having new elections, Osmani spoke after paying homage to the statue of Zahir Pajaziti, on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the heroic fall of the first three heroes of the KLA.
The head of the state, Vjosa Osmani, while talking about the meeting held yesterday with Lajçak, where she also expressed some concerns regarding the draft articles of the association, said that the Constitutional Court is the institution that will ultimately be able to decide for compatibility with the Constitution of Kosovo and that it will be able to give direction on how these provisions can be implemented in practice without violating the constitution.
She added that whenever this draft, after the formalization of the agreements, goes to the Constitutional Court, each institution will have the opportunity to show their arguments that certain provisions can create great problems and challenges in practice during implementation.Meanwhile, regarding whether Lajçak has given any specific time, regarding the discussion about these concerns, Osmani said that he believes that this procedure can go until the summer, but that there is nothing concrete.
Meanwhile, regarding the circulation of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo, Osmani said that yesterday they did not have the opportunity to discuss this issue with Lajcak, while she emphasized that the Constitution of Kosovo requires that there be only one currency in circulation and use, for which she adds that it is unfortunate that this has not been implemented so far.
President Osmani added that the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) has performed its work in accordance with the principle of independence, and as for the practical implementation of these principles, she emphasized that a number of options are being discussed, which on the one hand would respect Article 11 of the Constitution and on the other hand, will leave time for informing the citizens. In addition to these, Osmani, asked by journalists if she thinks there will be early elections this year, she said that according to the regular deadlines, they should be held at the beginning of 2025 for which she added that if the political parties have an agreement to hold them earlier, there are several options which are allowed by the Constitution of Kosovo.
For this, Osmani emphasized that if there is agreement between the overwhelming majority of political parties that are in the Assembly of Kosovo, for an earlier date she will announce the new election date within 30 to 45 days.
