The Mayor of the Municipality of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, in an interview with KosovaPress, emphasized the monumental importance of organizing the Mediterranean Games in 2030, detailing the ongoing work, infrastructure projects, and the challenges of preparations.
The most recent meeting with the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) marks a key step in finalizing the planning for this historic event.
“You know we are working continuously to prepare for the 2030 Mediterranean Games, that is ‘Prishtina 2030,’ a truly monumental event not just for the capital, but for all of Kosovo, where we have the opportunity to show the entire world what wonderful hosts we are. For this reason, it is important that we prepare properly for these games,” Rama emphasized.
Furthermore, Rama spoke about the conclusions of the latest consultation work, detailing the number of different sports that will be included and the importance of cooperation with Albania for specific disciplines.The Mayor of Prishtina added that, although the initial phase of work was slower, the processes are now progressing rapidly, and he expressed full confidence that there will be no problems in preparing the event within the set timeframe.
“I would say that perhaps we had a somewhat slow process during the first two years, but now we have all fronts open, we are moving quickly, and I am very optimistic that we will not have any problems in preparing for the 2030 Mediterranean Games,” Rama stated.
The 2030 Mediterranean Games represent the largest sporting event Kosovo has ever undertaken, a significant test of the state’s organizational capacity, and a unique opportunity to invest in modern infrastructure, sports development, and international promotion.
