Expert reports from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Scientific Police of Rome are proving the alleged link between the three defendants and the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal.

According to prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu, the reports examined soil and mud samples taken from the boots of defendant Jovan Viqentijeviq and compared them with soil samples collected from the crime scene as well as from three other different locations in order to verify the match of the soil.

The DNA found on the explosive detonator was also examined.

This was presented during Thursday’s hearing at the Basic Court in Pristina.

“Among the evidence that will be presented before you, which we consider to have particular importance in terms of credibility, is the expert report on soil samples conducted by the federal laboratories of the United States. FBI experts analyzed mud and soil samples taken from the boots of defendant Jovan Vicentijevic and compared those samples with soil samples obtained from the crime scene, as well as from three other different locations, in order to verify the accuracy of the mud found on the defendant’s boots.

The conclusion of the FBI experts established that, unlike the samples from the three other locations, the samples from the defendant’s boots showed no differences in terms of colour, structure, mineral composition and other physical characteristics compared with the soil and mud collected from the crime scene.

This will prove before you that the defendants were direct participants in the terrorist attack,” he said, KosovaPress reports.

Furthermore, Kodraliu said this will also be proven through reports on the examination of electronic devices, communications between different individuals and the defendants, photographs and recordings of KFOR facilities inside the area, photographs of Kosovo’s Special Unit, as well as video recordings showing Vicentijevic wearing Serbian military uniforms.

According to Kodraliu, the person responsible for the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal is Vicentijevic, as he said that a report by the Scientific Police Service in Rome showed that traces of the Serbian national’s DNA were found on the explosive detonator at the crime scene.

"The report of the Scientific Police Service in Rome, specifically the biological examination of DNA samples, will prove beyond any doubt that defendant Jovan Vicentijevic carried out the terrorist attack, because scientific examination confirmed that traces of the defendant Jovan Vicentijevic’s DNA were found on the explosive detonator recovered and collected at the crime scene.”
