The “Lëvizja” Society, organizations emerging from the KLA War, and the Association of Political Prisoners organized a memorial academy on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the murder of Qerim Kelmendi. This event, which was held to honor the life and work of Kelmendi, was attended by family members, comrades-in-arms, and representatives of various institutions.

This academy emphasized his contribution to the fight for freedom and the sacrifices he made for the national cause. Besnik Kelmendi, Qerim Kelmendi’s brother, has criticized the justice institutions for the lack of progress in the investigations into his brother’s murder. In a statement to KosovaPress, he expressed the family’s disappointment over the fact that even though three or four prosecutors have been changed so far, the case has still not been solved.
