At the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, lawyer Asdren Bytyqi filed a criminal complaint against Belisar Jezerc, a member of the “Lëvizja e Deçanit” (Deçan Movement), accusing him of repeatedly calling for the extermination and ethnic cleansing of Albanian Muslims.

On Tuesday, Bytyqi requested that the Special Prosecution indict the “Lëvizja e Deçanit” group and place Belisar Jezerc in pre-trial detention.

“The same individual continues, but especially through his public position on his social network, Facebook, with his latest post calling for the extermination, that is, the ethnic cleansing of all Albanian Muslims from the territories of Dardania, as he calls it… This is an unprecedented act, a madness that has gone beyond the limits of freedom of expression, which in a society like ours – where the Constitution states that freedom of expression is limited when it conflicts with public security and the public interest – cannot be tolerated. This gentleman has acted by inciting and making mass calls for the removal of the Albanian Muslim population from the territories of Illyria. This criminal complaint is an example and model that we will not stop, not only against him but also against all other provocateurs from Serbia who are part of the return movement, specifically the Deçan Movement, who continuously attempt to provoke and incite religious and ethnic hatred and division among Albanians,” Bytyqi stated.

Lawyer Asdren Bytyqi said that they will use all legal means against these individuals, while emphasizing that today’s criminal complaint is also a measure directed at the Special Prosecution.

He hopes that this institution will file an indictment against the “Lëvizja e Deçanit” group.

“This criminal complaint is also a kind of action against the Special Prosecution, which, as much as it is a prosecution that is responsible for delivering justice, is also an institution that exercises much more politics than actual justice. Because in cases where certain individuals of Muslim background write posts inciting hatred, without justification, against specific individuals or groups, they are immediately arrested and procedures are initiated ex officio. In contrast, against the Deçan group, this institution applies selective policy, meaning it does not administer justice, turns a blind eye, and is not interested at all; it closes all files and takes no swift action, even knowing that this case is unprecedented, calling for the extermination or ethnic cleansing of the entire Albanian Muslim population. We call on the Special Prosecution to perform its duty as prescribed by the Constitution and the law, take the appropriate actions, and deliver justice, specifically an indictment,” Bytyqi emphasized.

Bytyqi said that they have submitted 25 pieces of material evidence to the Special Prosecution and expect immediate measures to detain Belisar Jezerc.

“We expect that this institution, knowing that we have submitted about 25 pieces of material evidence regarding Mr. Belisar’s statements and the general positions that are organized and synchronized by the Deçan Movement… We expect the Special Prosecution to take immediate measures, and we have requested that he also be placed in pre-trial detention, or that some form of defendant security measure be imposed until the procedure proceeds. Because if this individual is tolerated, I am convinced that they will continue, not only at this intensity but with an even stronger intensity, because this is a policy sponsored by Serbia and the enemies of our country,” he said. /B.ibishi/
