The leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement and acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has stated that he will do everything possible to have the ninth legislature constituted before the last week of July, which is when the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court ruling expires.

After a meeting with President Osmani that lasted over two hours, Kurti said his commitment would be in the spirit of cooperation, with consultations and the idea of compromise with political parties to resolve the deadlock in the Assembly and form the new government following the parliamentary elections of February 9, KosovaPress writes.

“In light of the latest Constitutional Court ruling, the deadlines are running. By the last week of July, we must have the ninth legislature constituted. We will do our utmost in the spirit of cooperation and intensive, constructive consultations. Also, with the idea of consensus or compromise, we aim to accomplish this and then proceed to the formation of the new government that responds to the Assembly,” Kurti said.

However, he added that they will assess the progress made after the conclusion of other meetings that President Vjosa Osmani is holding with representatives of political parties.

Regarding this, he emphasized that the other meetings must also be given a chance, and in the end, they will see what progress has been made to overcome the deadlock in the Assembly and form the new government.

“We discussed at length and mentioned all the elements, and now the Madam President will hold meetings with other party representatives. In the end, we can see if we have made progress, how much progress has been made, and whether it is sufficient. I believe we must give these other meetings a chance and finally see what the progress is,” Kurti said.

Alongside Kurti, President Osmani is expected to meet on Wednesday with the chairman of PDK, Memli Krasniqi, the chairman of LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, and the chairman of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj. /KosovaPress/
