The leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has sent letters requesting meetings with the leaders of parliamentary parties to discuss the formation of new institutions.

Government spokesperson Fatlum Jashari confirmed this to KosovaPress.

“Yes, this morning Prime Minister Kurti sent letters inviting the three chairpersons of the PDK, LDK and AAK for meetings,” Jashari told KosovaPress.

Kurti’s invitation to PDK leader Bedri Hamza, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ardian Gjini comes one day after the certification of the June 7 election results.

In these elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement emerged as the first-ranked party with 47.13%, securing 53 seats in the Assembly. The second-ranked party, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), received 19.44% and won 22 seats. Meanwhile, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), with 16.69%, secured 18 seats, while the Alliance, with 6.74%, won seven seats. Non-majority communities secured 20 seats.

The certification of the results paves the way for the formation of new institutions, with the Assembly having a 30-day deadline to convene and be constituted.

In addition to constituting the Assembly and forming the government, the deputies of the eleventh legislature will also have to elect the country’s president. /E. Zeqiri/
