Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that during the previous mandate, €10 million were allocated for the construction of riverbeds.

He made the remarks on World Earth Day, where a memorandum was also signed between the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the establishment of a nature protection guard.

Kurti said the guard represents an alliance between citizens and the state.

“Natural resources do not belong to anyone individually, but to everyone together. The Nature Protection Guard is an expression of profound change. A state that is not a spectator but an active actor. So, policies, actions, and preventive measures instead of waiting for a reaction to damage that has already been done,” Kurti said.

Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Svecla said that the establishment of the guard will prevent environmental violations.

“The Nature Protection Guard, which is being concretized today through the minister’s decision and the agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Environment, is one of the mechanisms that prevents violations. We will fully support all actors so that no violation goes unaddressed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Fitore Pacolli said that over 100 rangers will be engaged within the guard to report environmental violations.
