From food to energy, ASK shows where prices rose the most in 2025

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) has stated that the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in Kosovo during 2025 was on average 3.9 percent higher compared to 2024. Meanwhile, the annual inflation rate in April 2026 reached 7.5 percent compared to the same period last year, while monthly inflation stood at 1.1 percent, as reported by KosovaPress.

According to ASK, the increase in prices was mainly influenced by several consumer groups under the COICOP classification.

The highest increases were recorded in alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics with 7.6 percent, information and communication with 6.8 percent, and personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services with 4.8 percent.

Prices also rose in clothing and footwear by 4.4 percent, furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 4.1 percent, as well as housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 3.5 percent.

“Price increases were driven by the main COICOP groups: alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (7.6%); information and communication (6.8%); personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (4.8%); clothing and footwear (4.4%); furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance (4.1%); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.5%); food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.3%); insurance and financial services (2.7%); health (2.7%); transport (2.6%); and education services (2.4%),” the report states.

ASK also reported increases in food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.3%), insurance and financial services (2.7%), health (2.7%), transport (2.6%), and education services (2.4%).

Meanwhile, price decreases were recorded in restaurants and accommodation services, which fell by 1.4 percent, as well as in recreation, sports and culture, which dropped by 1.1 percent.
