The Government of Kosovo, at its latest meeting, has approved the Law on the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030.
The approval of the draft law on the organization of the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030 marks an important step for Kosovo in terms of sports development and international recognition. The country’s institutions have described this initiative as a project of special public and national importance, expected to impact the economy, infrastructure, and the state’s international image.
“This draft law, based on the agreement reached for the organization of the Mediterranean Games in the Republic of Kosovo Prishtina 2030, is a project of high public and national interest. It guarantees that the organization of this major event will be carried out with full institutional responsibility, with high standards of transparency, integrity, and efficient management of public funds. Through this strategic investment, we not only strengthen sports infrastructure and economic development, but we also place Kosovo on the international map as a country that organizes major events with dignity and professionalism. This is an investment in our youth, in our sport, and in the international image of the state. It is a proof of belief in our potential and of the vision for a Kosovo that competes and is represented with dignity on the international stage,” Kurti said.
On the other hand, Minister of Youth and Sports Blerim Gashani provided details on the financial and organizational aspects of the project, clarifying the funding sources and structure:The approved draft law clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of state institutions, including the Olympic Committee of Kosovo and the respective municipalities, creating a full legal framework for organizing this major event. After approval in the Assembly, preparations are expected to begin for the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030, which aim to place Kosovo among important organizers of international sporting events.
