In the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic, a digital service for the “life event: childbirth” has been launched today, an initiative aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and improving citizens’ access to public services.

The Acting Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, said the project is a new digital service within e-Kosova that simplifies procedures for parents from the moment a child is born.

Vitia said the project was initially launched at the General Hospitals of Gjilan and Ferizaj, but will soon be expanded across Kosovo.

“This project is a new digital service integrated into the e-Kosova platform, which facilitates procedures for parents from the moment of childbirth. Through this system, all data and services related to the birth of a child are processed automatically from the hospital to the relevant institutions, without the need for parents to physically appear at another institution after the child is born at the Gynecology Clinic. At this stage it includes: registration of the newborn in the health information system, application for maternity and child allowances, registration of vaccinations — a very important step for monitoring immunization in the Republic of Kosovo — opening accounts on the e-Kosova platform, as well as electronic notification of relevant institutions. The platform also provides information for each stage, from pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, childbirth, and early child development,” he said.

The Acting Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, said the project brings a major reform by placing the citizen at the center of services.

He emphasized that the system simplifies procedures for parents by automating processes such as vaccination, allowances, and child registration, while also providing access to information through the e-Kosova platform, from pregnancy through after birth.

The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Rainer Rudolph, congratulated Kosovo’s institutions on this service, stressing that anything that eases the arrival of a newborn into a family is a positive development.
