The Speaker of the Assembly, Dimal Basha, together with Deputy Speaker Albulena Haxhiu, paid tribute in Prekaz.

Through Facebook, Basha stated that the heroism of Adem Jashari and 58 members of his family is the foundation upon which Kosovo’s liberation and independence were built, KosovaPress reports. He added that Prekaz remains forever a source of inspiration for national consciousness, unity, and dedication to the homeland.

Basha also paid tribute at the grave of President Ibrahim Rugova and activist Adem Demaçi. He concluded the tributes at the “Heroinat” Memorial.

He said that after Prekaz, he continued with tributes at the resting place of historic President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, who paved the way toward Kosovo’s statehood and was clear that the only compromise was independence. He also paid tribute at the grave of Baca Adem Demaçi, one of the brightest torches of freedom, an example of an unwavering resistor who showed courage throughout his life. His imprisonment served as a symbol of resistance for the people, later recognized with the Sakharov Prize awarded by the European Parliament in 1991.

It should be recalled that Basha was recently accused of co-authoring a paper with Jana Arsovska, in which the KLA (UÇK) was criticized. Basha distanced himself from the paper, stating that he only wrote Chapter 3, which deals with fundamentalist Islam in Kosovo.

The Speaker emphasized that he considers the KLA’s war sacred and that he has never written a single word against it.
