The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Dimal Basha, stated that the calling of the extraordinary session regarding the 2026 budget and the ratification of international agreements is not political, but a necessary step for their approval, KosovaPress reports.

At the start of the session, he said that citizens do not deserve to lose millions of euros under the European Union Growth Plan because of political grudges.

However, Basha said he has not found understanding among the parliamentary parties in the Assembly to establish parliamentary committees, approve international agreements, review the report on RTK, or examine the 2026 draft budget.

“Unfortunately, I have not found this understanding among some parliamentary groups, and the Assembly has remained without addressing any of the above issues. Dear colleagues, considering that today we have the vote for the government and all political parties have declared that they will not vote for the second mandate, I found it reasonable to support the calling of an extraordinary session to address these issues in the Assembly, which are very important for the citizens. With the understanding of all deputies, I am ready to convene a meeting of the presidency as soon as possible and, together with representatives of the political parties, proceed to establish at least four permanent parliamentary committees,” he emphasized.

Basha said that the matters of this session are not political but a necessity for the citizens.

“The matters of this session are not related to political actions. Therefore, once again, I call on all political parties to analyze them carefully and in the context of the state circumstances in which we find ourselves and the expectations of our citizens, who do not deserve to have the voting of these vital laws blocked due to political grudges,” he stressed.

In the plenary hall, the parliamentary groups of PDK, LDK, AAK, NISMA, and the Serb List are not present.

However, PDK MP Përparim Gruda has entered the plenary hall.
