Kosovo's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced that works on the Junik–Gjeravica road are nearing completion as part of a project worth more than €4.8 million, fully funded by the ministry.

According to the announcement, the project is being implemented based on a Cooperation Memorandum with the Municipality of Junik.

The ministry said that several property-related issues emerged during the implementation of the project, but they have now been resolved, allowing the works to continue smoothly until completion.

The 18-kilometre road will provide faster and safer access to Gjeravica, the highest peak in the Republic of Kosovo.

According to the ministry, the paving of the road is expected to strengthen connectivity with one of the country’s most important mountain destinations, boosting tourism development, the local economy, and creating new opportunities for residents of the area.

The ministry emphasized that investments in mountain infrastructure are among the priorities of the Kurti Government, aimed at improving access to these areas, supporting economic development, and promoting Kosovo’s tourism potential.
