Witness doesn’t show up, Thaci and others case postponed

The 126th witness of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the case against Thaci and others in The Hague did not appear in court on Tuesday, April 1.

He was unable to travel to The Hague today. During Tuesday’s hearing, the judicial panel announced that it was witness code 4747 who was scheduled to testify today. It was stated in the hearing that the SPO had requested that the written statement of this witness be accepted as evidence, according to Rule 155. The trial then proceeded to a private session. Rule 155 allows judges to accept a written statement from a witness without their physical presence in the courtroom.

Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi have entered the fifth year of detention under allegations of war crimes. Their trial began in April 2023.
