The Basic Court in Peja has delivered its verdict in the case concerning the physical assault of an elderly woman at the “Orenda” nursing home, an incident that took place in a care home in Peja in 2022, KosovaPress reports.

At today’s hearing, the trial panel sentenced Aurona Pelaj to two years and three months in prison after finding her guilty of intentionally using physical force against the victim. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a supplementary measure banning Pelaj from practicing as a nurse for a period of five years. Meanwhile, Altina Rexhepi and Remzie Kuqi were acquitted.

None of the three defendants attended today’s hearing.

Besides the prison sentence, the court also ordered that Aurona Pelaj be prohibited from working as a nurse for five years.
