Kosovo Individual Chess Championship for age groups U8–U18 concludes, champions announced

The Chess Federation of Kosovo has concluded the 2026 Individual Championship of Kosovo for age groups U8 to U18, crowning new champions in each category. The competition featured strong rivalry among young chess players from across Kosovo, with winners standing out for consistent performances throughout the tournament.

In the U18 category, the title was won by Jona Reçica with 6.5 points, ahead of Ron Manin with 6 points and Dua Rexhepi with 4.5 points. Reçica dominated the competition with solid performances and was crowned champion of the oldest age group.

In the U16 category, Lir Basha became champion with a perfect score of 7 points. He delivered an outstanding tournament, finishing ahead of Rron Reçica with 6 points and Ylli Hoxhaj with 5 points.

In the U14 category, first place went to Jakob Buzhala, who secured victory in a strong contest against Troi Krasniqi and Uvejs Sharku, who finished second and third respectively.

In the U12 group, Jon Pllana was crowned champion, followed by Ali Efe Cebeci and Ceyhun Sundo. Pllana stood out with consistent play throughout the championship.

In the U10 category, the title went to Hena Simitci, who finished ahead of Anuar Sahiti and Glauk Hulaj, emerging as the most successful player in the age group.

In the youngest category, U8, Mal Berisha was crowned champion, finishing first ahead of Omer Kollari and Taai Vuqiternë, showing strong potential for the future.

The Chess Federation of Kosovo praised all participants’ performances, emphasizing that the championship serves as an important platform for the development and promotion of young chess talents in the country.
