Water, energy and beverages record the highest price increases in Kosovo

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the first quarter of 2026, according to which production prices in the country have increased both on a quarterly and annual basis.

According to KAS, the overall producer price index rose by 2.3 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.

Meanwhile, compared to the same period of the previous year, producer prices recorded an average increase of 7.9 percent.

The highest quarterly increases were recorded in water collection, treatment and supply, up 34.4 percent; beverage production, up 15.9 percent; and paper and paper product manufacturing, up 9.6 percent.

KAS also reported increases in metal production, food processing, chemical products, textiles, and rubber and plastic products.

On the other hand, price declines were recorded in electricity, gas and air conditioning supply, down 2.7 percent, as well as in machinery and equipment manufacturing.

In annual comparison, the highest increases were seen in water supply, up 32.2 percent; electricity, up 18.1 percent; paper production, up 15.5 percent; and beverage production, up 15.2 percent.

KAS noted that the overall rise in prices was partially offset by decreases in waste treatment, metal production, and leather products.
