The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Fitore Pacolli, together with Deputy Minister Avni Zogiani and the Environmental Inspectorate, visited today the water basin of the Lepenc River to closely monitor the process of controlling and inspecting hydropower plants and the implementation of the legislation in force for the protection of the environment and water resources.
According to a ministry statement, the purpose of the visit was to assess whether the activities of these operators are carried out in full compliance with the environmental and water permits issued, as well as with the technical and legal standards in place.
“One of the sectors covered by the Ministry, which is extremely important and part of our priority, is water. We will focus on ensuring that the waters of the Republic of Kosovo are used in the most sustainable way possible, meaning they are neither misused nor mismanaged. The protection of rivers and the protection of Kosovo’s waters is our main focus,” Pacolli said, according to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
