Farmers and “Vita” demand urgent publication of milk analysis results

Representatives of farmers and the “Vita” dairy company have called on the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) to publish the results of the milk analyses conducted on “Vita” products.

They gathered in front of the FVA, where they also held a press conference.

Elvir Uka, a farmers’ representative, said they are not asking for anything beyond what was agreed with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, Kushtrim Tigani, a representative of the “Vita” dairy, said that Acting Minister of Agriculture Armend Muja told them during a meeting that they would receive the results on July 10.

“After many attempts to contact the head of the FVA and Minister Muja, we have not received a response. We have the emails we sent requesting a meeting, but they did not accept us. Then we were forced to come out and speak only the truth. I, as a representative of ‘Vita’, and the farmers’ representatives agreed to resume collecting milk from farmers. Let them publish the results. The minister told me that the results would come to me on July 10, and I am obliged to send them to you as a dairy company. As for a press conference, I need three to four more days to process the results, and then I will also come out with your results,” he said.

Fidan Krasniqi, a member of the Milk Farmers’ Association, also said they only want the results to be made public.

“We are only requesting the publication of the results from July 2, when samples were taken at the dairy. The company claims that there is palm oil and milk powder content, and this is what we want clarified. We want to create clarity for consumers and security for farmers. There is also confusion among farmers about what happened and why all these analyses were conducted,” Krasniqi said.
