During the continuation of the constitutive session — which began on April 15 — 93 deputies were present today.
Once again, the vote to form a secret commission to elect the Speaker of the Assembly — a proposal by the Movement Vetëvendosje, Guxo, and Alternativa — did not pass.
The proposal received only 52 votes in favor, with no votes against and no abstentions.
“52 deputies voted in favor, there are no votes against, no abstentions, but we do not have a quorum. Therefore, the session is suspended and we will see each other on June 13 at 11:00,” said the session chair, Avni Dehari.
The issue remains the election of the Assembly Speaker, as Vetëvendosje — in coalition with Guxo and Alternativa — have not managed to secure the 61 votes needed for their proposed candidate, Albulena Haxhiu.
The session began with a minute of silence in honor of the former Kosovo Prime Minister in exile, Bujar Bukoshi, who passed away on Tuesday, June 10.
“Yesterday, we received the news that a prominent figure in Kosovo’s political scene, Mr. Bujar Bukoshi, who served as Prime Minister of Kosovo in exile during the 1990s, passed away. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and the citizens. I invite you to honor him with a minute of silence,” said Dehari.
