The Hague court rejects Kadri Veseli’s request for provisional release

The Specialist Chambers Court in The Hague has rejected a request by the defense of Kadri Veseli for provisional release and has ordered the continuation of his detention at the Detention Centre of the Specialist Chambers.

In its decision, the court reasoned that there is a risk that Veseli could obstruct the course of the judicial proceedings, as well as a risk of committing further criminal offenses, particularly against witnesses or persons connected to the case. The court also assessed that the closure of the case by the Prosecution does not constitute a fundamental change in circumstances that would justify his release.

Furthermore, the court emphasized that no alternative measure, including house arrest or supervision by the Kosovo Police, is sufficient to reduce these risks. Veseli’s detention remains necessary and proportionate, regardless of its duration.
