The Kosovo Specialist Chambers has confirmed the extension of the deadline for delivering the judgment in the case of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The spokesperson for the chambers in The Hague, Angela Griep, told KosovaPress that July 20 is not the date of the judgment itself, but rather the deadline marking the extended timeframe.
“Yes, the Trial Panel has issued a decision to extend the deadline for the delivery of the Trial Judgment by another 60 days, until Monday, July 20, 2026, due to the complexity of the case. This date is not the date of the judgment, but only the deadline of the extended period. The Panel added that, if another extension becomes absolutely necessary, it will issue an order accordingly in due time,” said Griep.
Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi delivered their closing statements on February 18 before the Trial Panel. They once again declared themselves not guilty on all counts of the indictment.
The trial against the former KLA leaders began on April 3, 2023, nearly three years after the indictment was confirmed. Since then, the defendants have remained in detention in The Hague.
