Services sector in Kosovo sees employment rise as turnover declines in May

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published data on the services sector showing that employment increased in May 2026, while turnover declined compared to the same period last year, KosovaPress reports.

According to KAS, the turnover index in the services sector fell by 4.68% in May 2026 compared to May 2025.

Despite the overall decline, turnover increased in professional, scientific and technical activities by 3.67%, as well as in publishing, audiovisual production, broadcasting, telecommunications, computer programming, and information services by 3.46%.

Meanwhile, declines were recorded in hotels (1.55%), bars and restaurants (2.82%), transport and storage (3.25%), and administrative and support service activities (21.81%).

At the same time, the employment index in the services sector rose by 4.42% in May 2026 compared to the same month in 2025.

The strongest employment growth was recorded in bars and restaurants (5.84%), followed by professional, scientific and technical activities (5.65%), publishing, audiovisual production, broadcasting, telecommunications, computer programming, and information services (4.63%), transport and storage (2.86%), administrative and support service activities (2.80%), and hotels (2.38%).
