LDK deputy Hykmete Bajrami criticized the Government, specifically the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, stating that Kosovo survives thanks to remittances and that the country “exports its youth to Europe,” who, with their salaries, sustain household consumption within the country.
However, according to the former Finance Minister, official data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) show a different economic reality. According to Bajrami, the January–September 2025 report indicates a high trade deficit, which she says is deepening.
“According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, the trade deficit for January–September 2025 is over €4.54 billion – and it is widening. The trade deficit in September 2025 increased by 21.2% compared to September 2024. During September of this year, Kosovo exported €85.8 million worth of goods, while imports amounted to €606.2 million. Whereas in 2022 exports covered imports by 17.7%, in January–September 2025 the coverage of imports by exports has fallen to 13.04%. This is the ‘progress’ of the Kurti Government,” Bajrami wrote on Facebook.
Referring to these statistics from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, she also stated that this agency operates under the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo.
A few days ago, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in London, said that over the past four years, the country’s average economic growth has been around 6%, while according to the IMF, Kosovo will continue to be the leader in the region this year in terms of economic growth.
