Investigators of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate (KPI) recently initiated preliminary investigative actions regarding police conduct in which three police officers are suspected of being involved.
Following these actions, the KPI recommended the suspension of three police officers from the Alpha Police Station in Prizren.
According to the statement, the officers had stopped unregistered vehicles and motorcycles that were operating in violation of legal provisions, initially launching the relevant police procedures.
However, according to the preliminary findings of the investigation, the officers are suspected of failing to act in accordance with their legal and official duties by not continuing the prescribed procedures and allowing the offenders to leave without taking the appropriate legal measures.
The recommendation for suspension was made on suspicion that, on June 11, 2026, in Prizren, their actions constituted elements of the criminal offense of “accepting a bribe,” as defined under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
The investigation is being conducted by the KPI’s Department of Investigations in cooperation with the Basic Prosecution Office, with the aim of fully clarifying all circumstances and actions of the police officers involved.
The recommendation for the temporary suspension of the officers was made to prevent any interference with the investigative process and to ensure the independence and impartiality of the investigation.
