At the Basic Court of Prishtina, the trial against Naim Murseli, Kushtrim Kokalla, and Granit Plava—accused of the murder of Liridona Ademaj—continued today. The defendant Naim Murseli again insisted that they were victims of a robbery and that the attacker only demanded money and phones.
However, the presiding judge, Fatime Dërmaku, confronted him with several photos from the night of the incident, showing Liridona Ademaj after the shooting, including the head injury she suffered near her ear.
She asked whether the late Liridona Ademaj had any valuables with her. Murseli denied this, saying she only had her wallet. The judge then presented photos showing the deceased wearing gold jewellery.
She then asked: if it was a robbery, why were the jewellery not taken?
The accused Naim Murseli replied that the robber only demanded phones and money.
During further questioning, the judge also asked how the children were seated in the car and how they exited it during the critical moment. Murseli explained that one child was seated behind him and the other behind Liridona, and that they exited through the same door.
The judge then confronted him with a photo showing how the children were seated.
When asked why he paid for the weapon purchased with Granit Plava, Murseli said Plava had claimed he could resell it for double the price and that he had no personal benefit, only assistance to the other accused.
When asked whether he knew that his wife had been killed with that weapon, Murseli said he learned this only when reading the indictment.
Meanwhile, when judge Dërmaku asked Murseli whether he had seen Granit Plava at the “Etno Kuca” restaurant, the accused denied this.
Furthermore, the presiding judge asked why he had left the children alone on the night their mother was killed. Murseli said it was a request from the police, as he might be called again for questioning.
Murseli denied seeing the murder of his wife, stating that he only saw Liridona the next day at the morgue.
In response to the court’s question whether he told Liridona to get out of the car, Murseli said he did so by speaking to her in Swedish. He also said he could have bypassed the attacker, but it was Liridona’s request to stop the car, and in shock he stopped it.
Regarding footage shown in court where Liridona Ademaj is seen after the shooting, the lawyer of the Ademaj family, Leutrim Syla, requested that these images not be published so that the children of the deceased would not be exposed to them.
After presiding judge Fatime Dërmaku, judge Gent Beka continued questioning the accused Naim Murseli regarding his meetings with Granit Plava. Judge Alban Ajvazi asked about the rented car used by Granit Plava, and Murseli said he knew the type of vehicle.
Judge Ajvazi also questioned Murseli about marks on Liridona’s body, suggesting inconsistencies in how they could have been caused if the robber was only on the right side and she did not exit the vehicle. Murseli said he had no answer.
After questioning by the panel, Naim Murseli again stated that he and the children did not witness the incident and did not know how the injury on Liridona’s left hand was caused.
Liridona Ademaj was killed on 29 November 2023 at 20:25 on “Dalip Alshiqi” street in Prishtina, and the case was initially reported as a robbery-related murder.
