Naim Murseli and Granit Plava have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Liridona Ademaj in November 2023. Meanwhile, Kushtrim Kokalla was sentenced to 30 years in prison, KosovaPress reports.
The decision of the Basic Court of Prishtinë was announced today by the presiding judge, Fatmire Dërmaku.
In her closing statement, the prosecutor in the case, Javorka Perlincevic, requested life imprisonment for all three defendants for the murder of Liridona Ademaj, stating that the killing was premeditated.
Life imprisonment for Naim Murseli, Granit Plava, and Kushtrim Kokalla was also requested by the victim’s brother, Leonard Ademaj, as well as by the family’s lawyer, Leutrim Syla.
The defense lawyers of the accused presented their final arguments before the court, requesting fair and evidence-based decisions.
On the evening of November 29, 2023, Liridona Ademaj was killed on a road in the village of Bërnicë, Prishtinë, while she was in a car with her husband Naim Murseli and their two children.
According to the indictment, Naim Murseli planned the murder of his former wife in order to benefit from her life insurance in Sweden, worth around €260,000.
The indictment states that Kushtrim Kokalla introduced Murseli to Granit Plava, who is accused of being the gunman.
All three defendants were not present in the courtroom.
According to the prosecution, the killing was carried out in exchange for €30,000 paid by Murseli.
