The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, after the raising of the flag in the government courtyard on February 17, said that independence is honored when institutions operate functionally, with integrity and professionalism.
Following the solemn raising of the flag of the Republic of Kosovo, she paid tribute to all those who gave their lives for the independence we enjoy today.
“Today we mark the 18th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo, perhaps a young republic, but not so young as to not understand that freedom requires daily commitment. Today, and every other day, we remember with honor and respect all those who gave their lives for the independence we enjoy today—our national martyrs. We also honor the prominent figures who contributed, under different circumstances and periods, to the liberation, freedom, and independence of the Republic of Kosovo. We honor independence when we work through functional institutions that operate with integrity and professionalism,” Haxhiu said.
