In one of the surface (separation) areas at the “Kosova A” power plant, dry grass caught fire as a result of the high temperatures that have affected the country in recent days.
According to confirmed information from the spokesperson of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Skënder Bucolli, the fire is being localized by KEK’s firefighting teams, who are on the scene and actively working to manage the situation.
The KosovaPress team attempted to stay on site, but was not allowed to take pictures or interview any officials near the affected area.
However, from footage obtained at a distance, the presence of firefighting units intervening on the ground can be clearly seen, as also confirmed by KEK to KosovaPress.
“In some areas/separations at the “Kosova A” Power Plant (TCA), due to high temperatures, some dry grass has burned – a common occurrence that happens in other places as well under similar climatic conditions. The fire is being localized and the situation is under control. KEK’s firefighting teams are on the scene and are acting efficiently to ensure the full management and elimination of the fire. Therefore, there is no room for concern”, Bucolli said in a written response to KosovaPress.
Due to the high temperatures that have persisted for over a month in our country and the lack of rainfall, several municipalities are currently facing wildfires.
