Absence of the witness postpones the hearing against Nagip Krasniqi to October 16

In the absence of the witness, Skender Muqolli, the hearing at the Basic Court in Prishtina failed to take place in the case where the former Chief Executive Officer of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Nagip Krasniqi, is accused of abuse of official duty, reports KosovaPress.

Skender Muqolli, who holds the position of Head of the Energy Market Department at the Energy Regulatory Office, did not appear in court due to health reasons.

The presiding judge, Arben Hoti, stated that since the witness was absent, the conditions for holding the hearing were not met.

He said that if the witness Muqolli fails to justify his absence with medical documentation, an order will be issued for his compulsory appearance.

“He sent an explanatory email regarding his absence, but so far has not provided any medical documentation. This email contains the justification that he is ill and unable to attend the hearing. The court also contacted the witness by phone, and he confirmed the same. I conclude that the prerequisites for starting the trial have not been met. The court issues a decision: the trial is postponed… As for the witness, Skender Muqolli, a decision will be made later depending on whether he justifies his absence with medical documentation; otherwise, an order will be issued for his compulsory appearance by the Kosovo Police,” said Judge Hoti.

The next hearing in this case will be held on October 16, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.

In the initial hearing, the accused, Nagip Krasniqi, pleaded not guilty.

According to the indictment of the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, the former KEK Chief Executive, Nagip Krasniqi, is accused of the criminal offense of “Abuse of official position or authority.”
