The verdict in the Banjska case will be announced on April 24 at 15:00 at the Basic Court in Pristina. The decision was made public during the hearing where closing statements were presented by the defense of the accused Vladimir Tolic, Blagoje Spasojevic, and Dusan Maksimovic over the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvecan, on September 24, 2023.
Apart from Dusan Maksimovic, the other defendants in the case stated that they do not wish to attend the hearing where the verdict will be announced.
In court, the accused Dusan Maksimovic attempted to deny responsibility for the charges against him.
The defense lawyer of the accused, Jovana Filipovic, has requested acquittal.
Closing statements were also presented today by the other two defendants and their defense teams.
The September 2023 terrorist attack left 50-year-old police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku dead, while police officer Alban Rashiti was injured, along with Clirim Shaqiri, Mirsad Kryeziu, and Sedat Dushi.
Nearly a year after the attack, on September 11, the Special Prosecution filed an indictment, naming Milan Radoicic as the leader of the group.
According to the indictment, the defendants are charged with “committing a terrorist act” and “serious crimes against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.” Some are also accused of financing the group and money laundering.
The trial includes Vladimir Tolic, Blagoje Spasojevic, and Dusan Maksimovic, all of whom have pleaded not guilty.
Last week, Stefan Radulovic was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the Banjska attack.
Serbia has still not handed over those responsible for the attack, despite repeated requests from Kosovo authorities and international allies.
